🌳 Beech Trees at Risk: What You Need to Know About Beech Leaf Disease 🌳
Beech Leaf Disease (BLD) is a serious issue affecting beech trees across our region. Caused by a microscopic nematode, BLD can weaken and eventually kill your trees within 6–10 years if untreated. Here's what to watch for:
🔍 Signs of BLD:
Dark banding between the leaf veins (visible when held up to light).
Thickened, curled, or undersized leaves.
Thinning canopies and failing buds in spring.
💡 What Can Be Done? While there's no definitive cure yet, early detection is key. Regularly inspect your trees and avoid moving soil or plant material that could spread the disease. Keeping trees healthy may slow its progression.
⚠️ If Your Tree Dies: If the disease takes over and your tree doesn't make it, we’re here to safely remove it for you.
